How to use your Elgato Stream Deck+ with KLAR

Remote control KLAR using Elgato Stream Deck+
Installation:
  1. Connect your Stream Deck+ and install the drivers from https://www.elgato.com/nl/downloads.
  2. Go to https://user.bitfocus.io/download and create an account.
  3. Download the latest Companion BETA version.
  4. Install Companion.
Initial startup:
  1. Open Companion & click ‘Launch GUI’ to open Companion in your browser. Allow network access if permission is asked.
  2. In the ‘Welcome to Companion’ screen, click next 2x (leaving all options default) to go to the ‘Remote Control Services’ screen.
  3. Tick the ‘Open Sound Control (OSC)’ box, leave ‘listen port’ on 12321, and click next.
Setup OSC broadcast in Companion:
  1. In the ‘Connections’ tab search for ‘Generic OSC’ and click ‘Add’.
  2. For macOS: In the the column at the left, click the blue ‘Edit’ button next to OSC.
  3. On the right, in the ‘Target IP’ field enter 127.0.0.1
  4. In the ‘Target Port’ field enter 12322
  5. Click ‘Save’
Import Template:
  1. Go to svalbardaudio.com/remote and use right click to download the KLAR Stream Deck+ folder.
  2. Go back to the Companion page in the browser, click ‘Import/Export’ and click the green ‘Import’ button.
  3. Select the ‘page 1’ file from the folder you just downloaded.
  4. Click the yellow ‘Import to page 1’ button to copy the buttons to the first page (or select a different page on the left).
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for page 2 and 3 (selecting a different page on the left each time).

Enable OSC in KLAR:
  1. In KLAR, click the gear icon (third from the right at the bottom) and tick ‘Use OSC for remote control’.
  2. Click File > Save.
In use:

Most of the functions/buttons will be self-explanatory, but here are a few hints for the ones that are not directly obvious:

  • For DIM: press rotary button 1
  • For REF levels 1-3: press rotary button 1-3
  • Click at the right of the touch screen (where it indicates the sample rate)  to go to the next page & and the left (where it indicates level) to go to the previous.
  • Before starting KLAR, make sure the Stream Deck mute button is the same state as the saved KLAR one.
  • To launch or show KLAR, click the Svalbard logo in the top left corner.
  • The top left corner will also show the name of the currently active preset.
Troubleshooting:

If you don’t see the KLAR button appearing on the Stream Deck when Bitfocus is active, click ‘Surfaces’ (3rd tab) and click ‘Rescan USB’
